It hangs when I do the following:Ī) try to explore the drive using my computerī) hangs when i open windows media playerĪ) installed Windows Vista x86 (32-bit) fine.ī) is recognized by Vista as the LG GGC-H20LĬ) shows up with a drive letter in my computer as a HD DVD driveĭ) blue LED lights up when i insert a DVD, but does not spin up and seek when I try to access the drive via windows explorer. Check in the BIOS (System Setup) if the Optical Drive (Blue Ray Rom) is detected and is enabled. I have an LG GGC-H20L drive that I just installed and I have issues with it hanging in Vista (32-bit) Best answer: Hi, Please try the below mentioned steps and check if this helps: 1. One thing I haven’t tried but will try tonite is to see if it can recognize a Blu-ray disc. I have tried to tweak a few settings in BIOS but no luck. I think I need to move back the focus on why the HD-DVD disc cannot be recognized in Windows. Now that on your working setup, you got stuck on bootup as well. But since both Vista and XP cannot recognize the HD-DVD disc, I want to see whether the problem is OS dependent or not. I don’t really need to have the LG drive as a boot drive. But it doesn’t bother me since I have other drives connected to onboard IDE/SATA.ĭo you really need to boot from the LG drive all the time? Why don’t you set your first boot device to HDD, it will increase your boot time since the BIOS doesn’t need to check the drive or Floopy. I just tested booting from the LG drive with HD DVD disc in it and it also hangs. I know I had a problem booting from a harddrive on the Syba PCI Sata card but after I tweaked the BIOS the problem gone.

It might be the mobo or BIOS but I don’t know the settings to convice the computer to boot on a PC drive. I’m pretty sure it’s not the drive (LG) problem.
